I saw on the news today that most state agencies her in Georgia will start making employees take furloughs once a month. I haven't heard anything about the good ole GDC but I'm sure they are in there too. It seems that if they made the CO's take days without pay that they would have to PAY someone to fill their post while they are off? Has anyone else went through this in another state? Also do they let you use your leave or not? I have never been through this before so any insight would be appreciated.

Iowa DOC was threatened with this several times during the 1990's when our governor decided he wanted to play with us. It never happened because the union was too strong ..............and the bean counters decided the union was right.Originally posted by Bnathanb1982 View Post
What we had set up was that we were going to lock down the institutions on 3 days a week in order to be able to run the places during the "furloughs". We could then have non custody staff and support staff help with the supervison of the inmates while the custody staff was furloughed........................1/3 of the custody staff at a time................
