If it's like the one I took, we had a week long class on Constitutional law (4th Amendment, etc etc). The test gave scenarios and which charge we would use, as well as general knowledge questions

Not all of them work 12's. If you work a 12 hour schedule at most stations you get every Friday-Sunday off. Example: M&T(Work), W&Th(Off), Friday-Sunday(Work), M&T(Off),W&Th(Work),Friday-Sunday(Off).. It than repeats after that.

You cover constitutional law for a whole week then take the test on Monday. They cover a lot of **** not necessary so you have to study. A lot of people fail so not studying will hurt you. The test was revamped by two attorney's they made into special agents. The law test is the hardest part of the whole 10 weeks so if you have a bad memory you are ****ed.

Do you get your own dorm room at LETC or do you have a roommate.

You get your own room whether you stay at a hotel or the dorms at LETC.

PT is easy and class room is easy but boring. If you have gone through a real police academy you will feel that going to this academy is a waste of time.

Yes...the law test and firearms quals are the 2 main reasons people fail the academy.

The VA still utilizes two types of firearms for Patrol. A Sig 229 or a Beretta 92. It all depends on the station. I don't recall if there is a set time frame for when they switch to a Sig, but most stations are using the Sig.

You will get one more shot if you fail a test including Firearms or PT test. If you break one of their rules you are done. Don't ask what the rules are....you will find out what they are once you get there.

so basically, u r saying u only have 1 chance, if u fail twice for either the test law test portion or the shooting part, u r done...????

                  • #28
If you fail any of the tests the second time you are done. There is a test every week just that the law test is the hardest. We had a guy fail the first week's test both times and was done.
