  • LEOSA Case Disposition

I was trying to bump an older thread but I could not find where we had the conversation. After telling you guys about a LEOSA case on a LEO in my department a lot of people asked me to update them on the disposition. Well, in short, the handgun charges were not prosecuted "Nolle Prosequi" and he was found "not guilty" on the assault charges stemming from the handgun charges. He was given back his badge and credentials and is now on full duty status. Obviously, even though this is public record I deleted some stuff to protect the privacy of the defendant and the citing police officer.

This is an electronic case record. Full case information cannot be made available either because of legal restrictions on access to case records found in Maryland rules 16-1001 through 16-1011, or because of the practical difficulties inherent in reducing a case record into an electronic format.

Never ask a man if he served in the Marine Corps! If he earned the title "Marine" he will tell you, if he didn't, there is no need to embarrass him.

    Thanks for passing this along.

Has this translated into any kind of "mood" shift from your overhead?

Senior leaders may or may not have heard, because there on a retreat. I doubt the mindset will change, however. A new police chief may see things differently, and open it up (for dacp's), but most folks that are going to carry under a policy change already do it anyway, regardless of what the top says.

this the case where the guy off duty shot the dog at the dog park?
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

At a retreat...do they have moneybags? Thanks again for the info., I think H.R. 324 will remedy this in the end.

I believe this is the case where the off-duty DACP Investigator was carrying, and was approached by a "road rage" civilian.
