In the Army now!

I signed my contract for the army on Friday. It was a 4 year contract for 89d-EOD with a 20k signing bonus and the MGIB. I report back at the KC Meps station on January 27th 2010. Right now I am going in as an E-2 because of my college credits. I will do my 49 weeks of training at Jackson and Redstone. I am going to follow the PT guide that was given to me at MEPS. Thanks for everyones input it helped alot!

So I take it you are going to Jackson for Basic, then Redstone for 89B training, then down to Egland AFB for 89D training? Good luck, stay focused EOD school is no joke, academically it is the hardest school the military has. And the weariest, in the Army, on an Air force base, going to a Navy school, with Marine instructors.
Back in 94 I tried the EOD thing, made it up to Indanhead MD, and was just about complete when I got a case of stupidity, and that was the end of that career for me, nothing major, just decided to drink a few beers instead of going to study hall, failed the next test and that was the end for me.

Nice job choice. I had a chance to reclass to EOD and decided not to cause I got married and now i regret I didnt do it. My friend did it and loves it said phase 2 was awesome and hard at the same time. Have fun.

Dude, do yourself a favor and go hit up socnet. They have an EOD forum that is worth it's weight in gold. I was at NAVSCOLEOD back in 2004, academically it's the toughest thing we got. Concentrate on what they tell you THERE vice what you may do at Redstone. And stay away from the Matador...Good luck.

I had to drive out to my grandmothers funeral monday from Wichita, KS to Cumberland, MD so I havent met with my recruiter since MEPS. I reckon I need to call him and give him a heads up of where I am. After I get my AKO set up I will get with the people that wanted me to email them.
