I'm working out getting in shape I lost my job a year ago just after I bought a house and was desperate to find some quick cash so i sold some weed for some fast cash to put food on the table for my wife and son.... I went a few days without food so I was desperate I needed something fast .... I've sold I've smoked I've grew ... Last joint I smoked was about May 25th 2012 at about 8 pm the wvsp testing should be around April or May 2013 will I be an automatic disqualification ? I mean when they ask I won't lie about any of this and I don't plan on doing any kinda drug activity

Part of the hiring process looks at your background investigation and for anything in your history that meets the criteria for disqualification. This is a pass/fail issue. Five goods do not make up for one bad.

You may have saved ten orphans from a burning building, have seven college degrees, speak four languages and have the Nobel peace Prize, but none of that will make up for the time you sold dope, even if it was to put food on the table. All dope dealers sell their product to put food on the table. Your are an instant DQ.

1. Your recent use of marijuana will be an instant disqualification. Only abstinence for +5 years will be considered; and that’s if your use was “experimental”-even then it’s not looking good.

2. Drug sales are an instant and usually a permanent disqualification. There is no waiver or exception to the rule.

3. Cultivation is an instant and usually a permanent disqualification. There is no waiver or exception to the rule.

Now- lets delve into this “situation” shall we. Assuming you were not already cultivating marijuana, you made the conscious decision to begin.

In WV possession of marijuana in any amount is a misdemeanor punishable by not less than 90 days, nor more than 6 months and not fined more than $1,000.

Cultivation is punished according to how much is on hand and intent. From your own words it was with intent and actually distributed- felony.

Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and is a felony punishable with not less than 1 year, nor more than 5 years, in prison and a fine of not more than $15,000.

I have a few buddies that have smoked and grew and sold and bought alcohol for minors and they are city cops now .... Some of um have smoked some crack as tried herion before.... My question was how much of a time frame of being clean do they "police" want ? I heard 1 year I heard 3 years I heard 5 years

You have been told by those already in the field on here that you are an auto DQ for growing and selling (as you would be in my agency). However, judging by this post of yours, you already have all the answers, so I guess there isnt much reason for anybody else to bother responding.....after all, you have friends that smoked crack and got on, somewhere (allegedly). I guess you could always ask them.

Most of us Goggled your internet profile when you made your initial post to get a feel for who you are. It is quite detailed, complete with photos.

If you actually apply to be a cop, your background investigator will do the same and find this message thread and your quotes. Not only will he ask you about your having used and sold drugs, but as a condition of your background he will also ask you about to identify your dope using, dope dealing friends who are also cops so appropriate action can be taken in their case.

You have certainly opened a giant barrel of worms here.
