  • Snoqualmie PD

Has anyone went through the hiring process with this agency? I'm flying in from out of state. Shortly after the PAT will be the Oral Board Interview and I'm just wondering what to expect as a lateral candidate.

    Thanks in advance

Snoqualmie PD is a quiet PD in terms that it doesn't have a lot of hiring action so you won't find too many posts about experiences there. I've worked in both King and Pierce counties and never ran into anyone from this PD in any training, etc. Snoqualmie is located between Issaquah and North Bend on I-90, home to one of the larger and nicer tribe casinos in the state. They are planning on building a hotel in addition to the casino very soon.

Otherwise you got about 10k ppl in 5 sq. mi. If you are coming from a similarly sized agency, you should be fine. Good luck.

The PD is growing with laterals, as it will take over for North Bend in 2014, as King County SO will no longer be the contract police for that city.

The casino is actually not in Snoqualmie city limits. When it first opened in 2008 the tribe asked the PD if they wanted to handle LE at the casino, the Chief wanted nothing to do with the casino. So as of right now the tribe reimburses King County SO for calls at the casino. The casino is in an unincorporated county area between North Bend and Snoqualmie city limits. I am guessing even when Snoqualmie PD takes over North Bend in 2014 that the tribe will still use King County as their LE.

Are any of the other contract police cities in King County ending their contracts soon?

I know there was a talk of Covington and Maple Valley ending their contracts and creating a Maple Valley-Covington-Black Diamond PD.

But then there were talks of Black Diamond PD dismantling and becoming a contract city for the SO.

I've heard talks of Kenmore either starting their own PD or contracting with another agency,

I know Black Diamond did look into contracting with KCSO and joining up with Maple Valley, but they do like having their own police force, they did lay off last year.

KCSO is active around the cities there, thats why it makes sense them to be a contract city, in my view.

North Bend's contract with Snoqualmie will cost them more than with the KCSO, and it will change the policing there, different styles. I heard they are hiring 6+ laterals a while ago.

Correct. Thanks for the clarification I forgot to add about the SO.

Their security there is...interesting, they like to take care of most things "in house". I have no knowledge of their actual call volume for KCSO, but I doubt it is high.
