What happened to the police force TSa was going to create?

Back in 2002 I remember seeing job listings for TSA Police, and reading the job descriptions for 4 TSA Police Ranks (Officer, Sgt, Lt and Capt). I never heard anyhting else about it though.

Did someone nix the idea before it started?

It got canned before they started it. I have heard that the few folks that they did hired were offered FAM jobs....and the rest were told "Sorry."

Reason was it was going to cost a ton of money to upstart them......and most airports have thier own PDs.....so it was going to be duplicate work......as most (probably all) didn't want to give up their police force....and I would suspect it was a battle Washington didn't want to do.....

Same here.....as I went through everything for a DFW spot....only to get told...."Thanks but no thanks...."
