Folks, pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between Agent and Investigator within the DEA?

The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. I'm not completely sure about this, but if you're taking about an Agent (1811) and an IOI (Industry Operations Investigator), then an Agentn works Law Enforcement and an IOI deals with the industry. As an example, I'm an FFL; the person who comes to check compliance, go over regulations, etc. is an IOI. -
Agents are also called criminal investigators, so maybe that's what you're thinking of?Comment

criminal investigators (1811s) are special agents. Investigators have the same badge but silver, they are task force investigators who are employed by state/county and other agencies. my father and uncle are/were both task force investigators.
then there are Diversion investigators. they handle pharmacy diversion and such.Comment
