Nope. Generally wont happen considering that one belongs to DHS and the other to DoJ. Besides dont they get their authority and enforce different sections of the USC?

Haven't heard the rumor. They did merge Customs from the Treasury Department and Immigration from the Justice Department, so I don't see that as a roadblock. If they think it might be a cost cutter, anything could happen.

aren't there roles entirely different? The merger of customs and ice makes sense because similar goals. Maybe you heard they would both be placed under DOJ or DHS

NO, Customs and Immigration are two completely different mentalities. Customs investigated violations of law with the goal of disrupting and dismantling criminal enterprises, imprisoning the guilty, and forfeiting all assets associated therein; and Immigration, well...

Yeah but when you had Immigration inspectors doing customs paperwork and customs inspectors doing immigration work many of it was redundant. The merger had made sense.
