  • Question on CBP process

i tested about a month ago, got a 79, not awesome, but my brother in law got hired with a 77 awhile ago, so ive still got some hope.

i checked usajobs.gov looking for the opening again and i cant find it. does that mean its full or they are no longer hiring? or that they've got an applicant pool and they are working through it?

also, how long does it take for them to contact you? i realize its a longer process, im just trying to get a idea on when i should test again.

I'm accepting my final officer for CBPO tomorrow morning. I was also a BPA trainee for a month and half before a running injury sent me packing.

The announcements are closed and MHC will be using the applications they have received so far. Getting a tentative offer (TO) with your given score depends on what geographic preference you put down; was it one of the high-need areas?

As for when you should test again, you'll only be able to when they open a new announcement. Keep checking USAJOBS and seaching by Series for 1895.

You can also apply for Border Patrol Agent (series 1896) if you don't mind moving to the southwest.

I seriously doubt you'll see another anouncement opening any time this year.

Sit back, draw a deep breath and go on about your life as usual, IMO.

Nothing is likely to happen soon. Do you know your B-in-law's timeline from test to hire? My guess is that you're looking at something close to that.

          VtCO84,
Merlin is absolutely right, but if it was me I would still go into USAJobs and look for vacancy announcements once in a while. With CBP you never know when they might decide to advertise. If you have any friends within CBP, it wouldn't hurt for you to ask them either.

CBPO's aren't being tested for hire right now, but BPA's are (heavily). If you tested, you are still in the running.
