  • Lynchburg PD

I'm wondering if anyone has any comments on the Lynchburg PD. Things I'm wondering about are adequacy of medical insurance plans, how well do they train you at their academy, and how they treat their officers.

    Thanks

Not sure about their health plan, but they have good support within the city (which is rare for municipalities). They have made good strides over the last several years for pay and benefits as well as scheduling. They are very involved with community oriented policing and take a good deal of pride in their application of it. There is and has been for a few years a pretty active gang problem that is more than just poser mini thugs. They have some pretty good leadership (at least the ones I have worked with.) Contact the city HR dept for specifics on the benefits, but I have been under the impression that they have a good progressive department.
