Departments that accept Out of State Lateral.

I am looking for information on a larger department in Virginia that takes Out of State laterals with a shortened academy.

Just for a background, i have been a certified officer in NY for two years and have a bachelors degree.

Are you familiar with the lateral process? Mainly, approximately how long is the hiring process and with the 12 week orientation program, will that be run concurrently with the new recruits full academy? or does the department run a completely separate academy for laterals?

We will accept you, but everyone has to go through the basic school. You will get pay incentives for your service time, though.

The certified academy runs anytime we get enough guys to fill it. Right now we are looking to start one after the first of the year.

Any agency that uses the Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Academy offers an abbreviated version, if approved by the hiring agency. That includes most agencies west of the mountains.
