  • Salt Lake County Sheriff Protective Services

Just saw they are about to start a process. Can anyone tell me about them, what they do. Its a little unclear to me if they are security or Police. Im not at all interested in the corrections side, but the protective services side sounds ok, as long as they are sworn.... Any info appreciated.
    Thanks.

PSO are fully sworn officers. Since the Salt Lake county sheriffs officer does not have a patrol division, you will either be a corrections officer or a PSO. They typically do bailiff duties in the court and some security details for government and county buildings.

In Utah there are 3 certifications for Law enforcement positions. The first is SFO, it is a very basic training that will give you the essentials for a career. With this cert you can work as a constable, bailiff, and sometimes you can reserve for departments. The PSO are SFO certified. Chances are you will not work in the jail ( unless you want to or applied for it) but you may be stationed in a juvenile detention area.

Is anyone else moving on in The process for PSO?

Salt Lake County is hiring again for both Corrections and Protective Services. Apply online through the sheriffs office website.
