Arlington PD Academy

If anyone has gone through this academy or know of it....can you tell me what it is like? pt, classroom, etc.... (i start on august 27th). also, can anyone tell me what it like to work for this department...

I've been there. They have a gym with a b-ball court, but its a smaller type one. They have one large classroom, desks in a semi circle. The academy is next to a lake and there is plenty of parking. If you search hard enough they have pictures of it up. You should come down and do a ride along with them, you will have no problem if you are hired by them already. The academy is going to be a very academic type thing, don't expect much yelling. They are a very educated and mannared department. I think their motto is " Where the smart officer goes to work", but that might be a myth. Ride out with East or North sector.

nsapoland...i usually think u know what u are talking about, but u don't know much about arlington academy...don't always believe what u hear...u are wrong about everything except the parking

i wasnt asking about the regional academy in arlington, i was asking about the academy arlington pd sends its people to on pioneer pky. i have been to the academy, just wanted to know what the training, pt, etc...was like. what he described about the academy, such as the lake, gym, etc. was dead on.

I was also referring to the Arlington city Police academy, Lt.Dangle can you correct me on the things I said wrong, or were you talking about COG?

There are two police academies in Arlington. Arlington PD and COG.

Arlington PD is located on Pioneer Pkwy West of Green Oaks Blvd on the north side of the Lake Arlington Dam. The Arlington PD Academy is exactly as NSAPOLAND described. APD's Academy has a Gym with a suspended running track, a classroom or two, and a Gun range. The APD academy is used exclusively by Arlington PD

The North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Police Academy ( aka COG), is located in an office complex just west east of Six Flags. COG has no facilities of its own other than classrooms and a rinky-dink weight room and a concrete running track around a pond. COG borrows the facilities of other police agencies for Firearms and Driving training. COG is the principal BASIC training academy for most of the Suburban PD's in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. Most Agencies have a training dept or academy however only use their facilities for In-service, and graduate level police training.

WOW APD's gun range is in the academy? Is it inside or outside, I was under the impression that they rented somewhere in fort worth.
