Taking Tcleose next month, any pointers???

Hey guys, been an outa state officer for 9 years, going to take the state test next month..

Anyone have any updates, specific things to study, any academy curriculm that may help?

I've studied and taken plenty of practice tests with an average of about 86%.

Not to worried, but I want to know everything about the laws in Texas...

You will do fine. Penal Code and CCP are the main topics. Good luck with everything.....

I know it's stressful but hang in their. make sure you read civil process too. Those are questions most people miss.

take the question for what it is. dont read into it. youll have a couple that make you go WTF? but just do em and move on. and yeah. penal code, traffic and CCP are the big ones. you can miss like 70 questions out of 250. you should do fine.

Go to the victoria college website and take the practice exams. it really helped me when I tested. Good luck.

You won't know your grade but yeah, you must score 70% or higher.

They've changed things then. I know in 2006 and 2008, TCLEOSE would tell you what you scored, but it wasn't officially recorded in Austin.

Either way, 70.1 is as much a po-po as 100

Just relax when you take it. Some of the questions are poorly worded so like others already said just don't read too much into them. I over analyzed just about every question I missed.

Traffic, Penal, Criminal Codes and civil processes as previously said are the big ones. I will reiterate LaPlaca's post as well, Read all of the question and then read all of the answers before marking your answer.

Answer a may be partly correct, b may be partly correct, c more correct than a&b while d is off the chart as an example.

Don't second guess your final decision and marked answer by going back and changing it either. More often than not the first answer was correct and you do yourself a disservice.

Im not the type to get nervous at test taking at all, I usually do really really well on tests.

I would really like to go to an academy down there.. I don't care what anyone says, if you don't attend a state specific academy you will have a huge learning curve when you hit the street.

I am a fast learner and have tons and tons of training and experience under my belt, but Texas is way diff then Indiana.

I would be ok with getting on a dept and even though I will be certified, they send me to an academy. I know this probably won't happen, but who knows..

Kinda crazy to want to go to an academy again huh?? In Indiana the ILEA is a centralized academy. There are only about 5 or 6 academies that ILEA will take in Indiana and they are from the bigger cities.

Our academy is 4 months long and you live at the academy while your attending. You only can go after you get hired as a full time officer and it's free. It is very militaristic with wake up calls at 2 a.m. for p.t. occasionaly..

I really enjoyed the atmosphere there and the friends and connections you make at the academy are priceless..

Quick hint: for those obscure PC titles, if they are asking what the penalty is, and you're just guessing, guess Class A. All the weird stuff is a Class A!

They give you a printout of your score. At least the Austin office did.
