If you thinking about being a correction officer, then Dallas County is one of the best place to work for. But if you thinking about being a deputy, don't waste your time. I am a former deputy from dallas county and to become a deputy their is like winning a lottery. They recruit once in a while and there will be 100's of applicants. You have to go through physical agility test, oral board interview, poly, psych background again even though you work for the department. The sheriff academy is very tough, but one of the best academy in north texas. You will be doing number of obstacle coursed, indian running, bleachers etc etc in same day. Also you have to keep up the class average above 85 to stay in academy. But they will make you mentally and physically fit.

    Dallas County Hiring CO's

Dallas County is doing a big push to hire CO's for their jails. They are advertising on Radio and TV.

Over 40 full time positions open, Over a dozen part time positions.

Good way to get your foot in the door in law enforcement, when hiring picks up again next year.
