  • Lubbock PD - Academy series

The first episode for Police Pursuit, the web series following Class 09B through the LPD academy is on the web. Check it out. The first is an eye opener for those who think that it is all mental.

On the first day of Lubbock Police Academy, class 09B realizes they are not on the same page as the instructors with regards to their physical conditioning.
The Republicans need to shrug off this Christian Coalition noose it has placed around its own neck and recognize the fact that, though they may not realize it, the majority of Americans are actually quite libertarian in their philosophy. They also need to learn to fight once in a while. What a bunch of wimps.

Thats's cool. I always like shows like that.

The only problem I have is, that the instructors need to loose the duty belts while they are doing PT, and do the PT with the class.

If I'm not mistaken, that was all on the very first day, a sort of "welcome to your next 6 months." If its anything like what I went through, they'll be leading from the front once the actual PT/DT starts.

Yeah that was just day 1. That was not the actual PT. When they are out side of the academy doing their actual PT then the instructors are right there with them. That was just a "get to know you" think going on there.

I attended the LPD academy and graduated in '02. It was not easy then and it looks like they have ramped it up a bit. I'll have to keep a lookout for the next episode. Is Sgt. Hook still at the academy?

i wouldnt costitute texas tech as crime. its actually NOT the school, oh my gosh, gasp, u mean the univeristy isnt a hell-hole for crime? how is this possible. i mean its texas tech. everyone is raiding dorms, robbing and murdering students in their sleep. everyone took mike leach to heart and we are all a bunch of pirates hell-bent on destroying our campus and harming people. back to topic (i have to defend my school)...how is dallas training different from lubbock?

Hate to burst your bubble. Actually Lubbock has a high crime rate. The stats I had given to me last year showed one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation for a city of that size. Lubbock isn't a small town, it is almost a quarter of a million people and many of them are not your friendly neighbors.

I went through this academy and have seen several other classes go through. I have yet to see anything that would be considered hazing. I guess you consider yelling at someone hazing. Other than that they are making sure you are physically in shape and teaching you to perform under stress. There is no problem with that.

Thank you for this, Lubbock. I'm going nuts waiting for my academy to start in May or September. The anticipation is killing me. This series gives me a much needed fix.
