Right in the heart of South Dallas... damn. What's that, a couple blocks south of the VA?

    Prayers to all officers involved.

Texas state trooper shot while serving warrant in Dallas
12:07 AM CDT on Tuesday, September 22, 2009

                From Staff and Wire Reports

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was in surgery Monday night after being shot while helping to serve a federal warrant at an east Oak Cliff apartment.

A Dallas police officer was also wounded, according to preliminary reports, though those injuries appeared to be relatively minor.

A DPS spokesman said the trooper was shot in the abdomen while helping the FBI at the apartment complex in the 2100 block of 52nd Street.

An FBI spokesman said the agency’s bank robbery task force had been serving arrest warrants Monday night.

The trooper was reportedly alert while being taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas about 10 p.m. The trooper, whose condition was not known, remained in surgery after 11 p.m.

The gunman’s body was found inside the apartment complex, which had been surrounded late Monday by law enforcement officers.

Judging by the follow up article for icecold, the suspect is dead from lead poisoning

Thanks, c3troop. Good thoughts for a speedy recovery for the trooper and our officer. According to an article I read on ch 11 news site, we had two shot, but the second officer was hit in his vest. Could have been a lot worse.

Thanks for the concern folks, but it wasn't me. My cell phone has been blowing up with people asking "you alright?"

Once again thanks for the concern, but not me.
