Hey yall, I am in the military and don't realy hear all the news back home. I heard that DPS is having one hell of a time recruiting troopers. Any truth in this?

Yup. They currently have about 250 openings, and are expecting about 600 retirements in the next 3 years. They are runnig 2 academies/year. If your getting out anytime soon and want to join, now is a great time to do it. -
DPS is a very good organization, but they definitely have their flaws, just like every other agency. If you are truly interested, just check out a public forum on the Texas State Troopers Association. You will see what their problems are, but don't let it discourage you. Understand, every law enforcement has their politics, but atleast you can see first hand if this is the place for you. Good luck..
