Shelby County is accepting applications for POST certified and POST certifiable Deputy Sheriff from now until October 10th. Be sure to check the jobs website here.
Lateral Transfers will attend an abbreviated POST academy at the SCSO Training Academy. What is currently unknown is if their previous time will count towards retirement.
In July of 2011, Shelby County Government changed the pension for new hires, The current pension plan for new hires is called Plan D and here is a link to it.

Plan D is not a very good retirement plan and I'm thankful that I'm not stuck in it. I'm just trying to give everyone a heads up before they apply.
