I am currently Louisiana P.O.S.T. certified looking to get on with any dept in Tennessee. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Departments

Nashville TN is always hiring but you will have to go thru thier academy. The have not had a Lateral Transfer class in a couple of years. They will not be conducting testing till early next year Date TBD. www.nashville.gov click on the police link

Clarksville Tn Police test every QTR. They will test again in JAN. You will have a easy time getting on that Department because they would jump on you being already post qualified. Pay is not so good though. www.clarksvillepd.org

As far as the multitude of departments in TN google Tn cities there are alot of departments that want just certified officers. The problem is most of the departments already tested June thru this fall. So there is alot of departments that are filled up.

Alcoa PD is hiring patrol, Knox County is hiring (be prepared for a year or so in the jail), KPD is hiring for a class next year (must go through their academy), THP is talking about a lateral class in March, Bount County is hiring a couple, and Jefferson and Anderson counties are hiring into the jail.

If you want to move to West TN, you could try Germantown or Collierville Police (suburbs of Memphis). Last I heard both of them where hiring but I don't think there are alot of slots. Both are good departments, but there isn't much to do and 1st time officers can expect to start at around $33k (no experience).
Franklin and Brentwood might be nice departments if they are hiring, those are nice areas. If you want something to do I would go with Nashville instead of Memphis.

Alcoa is already done takin apps for now. Clarksville just had testing a month ago. Are they hiring again already??
