How many hours are the shifts? How many days do you work in a week? Is the recent hiring because of retirements/attrition or budget expansion? What's the overall satisfaction of the department among the rank and file?

Most agencies in the area work 12 hour shifts with a 28 day rotation from day shift to night shift. The typical shift is either 6-6 or 7-7. On this rotation, you work a two on, two off, three on, two off, two on three off cycle every two weeks.

CPD, as with the majority of agencies in this geograpical area struggle with officer retention. Most agencies in this state and the southeast in general are continuously hiring because of this. I think that speaks volumes as to the overall satisfaction. I'd be glad to elaborate if you want to shoot me a PM.
