  • Tough state to work in LE

It seems like SC is a tough state for LEOs to work in. The pay is low, you have no union to back you up, and god forbid you have to use force against someone.

I have never seen so many firings for the most minor infractions. For example, a Trooper was fired because he pulled over some NFL player and told the guy he would use a taser on him if he didn't comply. Yeah, the trooper should have been written up or possibly suspended, but to be fired over it is extreme.

I bet if the Ferguson shooting or Eric Garner incident took place in a SC city, the officers would have been fired within hours.

I imagine it depends on the agency. From what I've seen, Charleston County Sheriff's Office is top notch. They are given near full autonomy and the sheriff always has their back.

    Pay is still low though.
