I received a letter from the Department yesterday which scheduled me for the PFT, written exam, and oral interview all on the same day. They gave me no additional info as to what the PFT or written exam would consist of or where it is supposed to take place. I am going to call over today but would appreciate any insight from others who have been through the process before. Thanks.

The written test should be the Nelson Denny (sp?) and is very basic math and english. They used to do everything at the PD but I think they have an obstacle course at the range and may take you there. I would call HR to verify.

The written is the National Police Officer Selefction Test. It consists of basic math, grammar, problem solving, etc. This test is not hard at all is pass/fail. The PAT mimics parts of the state PAT test (jumping over a simulated ditch, hoping a fence, dummy drag, etc.) and there is one component of holding dumbells while climbing stairs. This is supposed to mimic carrying a stretcher...????

Thanks Carolina Cop - good to know. I think I'll pick up a study book for the exam just to familiarize myself with it.
