  • What were the driving factors that motivated you to become a police officer?

Everyone has different reasons and so forth, I was just curious as to what made other people decide to get into this career field.

ETS the military in 1990, started back doing masonry contracting, saw my old boss who had been doing it since 1945, retiring and talking about having to pay for all his benefits and retirement, and thought I did not want to do that for 40+ years and have a bad back and other maladies to show for it. Saw an ad in the paper for this job, and thought I'd give it a try. 17 years later... here I am.
As far as "rights" are concerned; I look at them this way... I don't tell you what church to go to, and you don't tell me what kind of firearm I can own...

I know this might sound a bit odd but I just fell into it. I kept trying to be something else but I never fit in. I was heavily recruited to be a SP in the Airforce but decided against it. Then when I became a civilian I kept trying to get other jobs which i didnt fit in. Then I got picked up for a LE job. I fit in good and it feels real comfortable. I am with others like me. I love serving my country. Maybe if I knew a police officer or had a family member who was uniformed I would have fiqured out earlier my carrer path.

Something I've always wanted to do. I've had all kinds of jobs over the years and didn't really enjoy them. Wish I would have started when I was younger, but at least I'm doing it now and loving every minute.
"... They think I'm crazy... But I know better... It is not I who am crazy... It is I who am MAD!... Didn't you hear 'em? Didn't you see the crowds?!! Oh my beloved ice cream bar... How I love to lick your creamy center... And your oh-so-nutty chocolate covering... You're not like the others... You like the same things I do... Wax paper... Boiled football leather... Dog breath... WE'RE NOT HITCHHIKING ANYMORE... WE'RE RIDING...
