Municipal police is governed by Act 600 standards. At a minimum it is 55 yoa and 25 years of service. That gets you 50% of your last 36-60 months average. The specifics are negotiable. Other negotiated benefits such as cost of living, additional years for up to 500$ more a month, post retirement medical, and/or deferred retirement option program can be worked into the contracts to increase pension benefits.

My department has 50 yoa and 25 years of service for full retirement. Ours is based on last 36 months average. We don't currently have any additional negotiated benefits.

It really varies department to department with the pension rate and medical benefits.

Just curious. Outside of the State police and the big cities like philly and pittsburgh, what is the police retirement for most of the small agencies in PA. As always, any info appreciated...
