  • SHACOG Joint Police Test

Just wondering if anyone is testing for this on Aug 6th. I know the PT test consists of the following,
    1.5 mile under 16.00
    300 meter under .67
    30 sit-ups in 1.00
    12 push-ups
    200lb drag 50 ft under .30

Pass and you take the written portion later in the day. It is a bunch of municipalities from the South Hills area of Pittsburgh.

Found out the PT is a Pass/Fail and the written test is a standard Civil Service Test. A week before the test and my 1.5 is around 13.15 (nice easy jog, come test time I'll hit it harder), 30 sit-ups in .50, push ups have never been a problem for me. As far as the 200lb drag does, I actually have not practice this at all until later this evening when I'm going to drag my younger brother around the football field a few times just to try and get a feel for it. I've heard its not as hard as it sounds, 25ft down, around a cone, and back. Also not too worried about y 300 meter time. Hopefully all goes well. I can also see how making some sacrifices are part of the job. My wife and daughter and a few other famillies are leaving for the beach Friday, while I will be staying back an extra day to test. Hopefully all pays off in the end.

Yep I'm taking the test as well. Not really worried too much about the physical test, curious what's on the written test though.

Apparently it is your basic Civil Service test. Which depts did you apply for and are you ACT 120 cert already?

Nope no act 120, so just Mt lebanon and west mifflin. How about yourself?

Same, just Mt. Lebo and West Mifflin. I'm also wondering how many people are going to show. I turned in my app like the 3rd day, and asked the lady if there were a lot of apps, and she said I was the 2nd one. Now i'm sure there have been more since then, but you would have thought at least a few more but who knows. Also heard not to be surprised how many people can't pass the PAT.

Yeh I was wondering that too actually. From my experience with the pat, most people can't do the sit ups. That should knock a lot of people out, and then the 1.5 mile run at the end. The standards aren't bad at all tho, I'm looking forward to this one

Yea me too. I was wondering if there is a specific order they run all the tests in or just whatever they feel like doing. Do you have any military exp?

Yeh hopefully 1.5 mile run is late. That's been the standard with the ones I've taken. Nope I'm 23, just got out of college about a year ago. How about yourself?

I meant hope the 1.5 mile run is last.

Any idea if we run on the track, or on cement or what?

25... Been working probation for the past 3 yrs, but not really my cup of tea. Would rather be out in the streets preventing or deterring crime, rather than in an office or behind a desk trying to rehabilitate. Hopefully all goes well for both of us. What part of the burg are you from?

Oh ok I figured you were more from the city. Brookline is right outside of Pittsburgh by the south hills. That would be nice tho man. I need a good job.
