    Just a heads up for you 120 grads...

    Minimum age 21, US citizen, high school graduate (or equivalent), possess a valid driver’s license, good physical condition. Must be able to perform essential job functions and complete a competitive process consisting of; written exam, oral interview, physical agility test, physical examination, psychological examination, polygraph examination and background investigation. There is no residency requirement.

    NOTE: To apply applicants must:

    o Have a Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers Education & Training Commission (MPOETC) Act 120 certification or be currently enrolled in a Pennsylvania MPOETC Act 120 training program.

    Applications must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. Thursday April 14th 2011 with $35.00 application fee. Postmarks will not be honored.

    WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The written examination will be administered on Saturday, April 23rd 2011 at the Haverford High School located at 200 Mill Rd., Havertown PA 19083. The facility doors will be locked and testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. There will be no entry allowed after the doors are locked. Photo identification will be required for entry into the test site. Applicants should plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to the test.

    The first fifty (50) highest scoring applicants will continue with the hiring process. Final applicants will be required to pass an oral interview, physical agility test, psychological test, polygraph examination and background investigation.

    GENERAL INFORMATION: The Haverford Township Police Department is located approximately 6 miles southwest of the City of Philadelphia, PA. This progressive suburban department has an authorized strength of 71 sworn officers and 80 civilian personnel. The Department provides police service to a Home Rule Chartered, First Class Township consisting of a resident population of approximately 50,000 covering approximately 11 square miles. The Police Department consists of the Patrol Division and Special Services Division. The Patrol Division works twelve hour shifts and is staffed by two Lieutenants, eight Sergeants, and forty police officers. The Patrol division is responsible for routine patrol of geographical areas, responding to emergency and non emergency calls for service, investigating traffic collisions, enforcing the motor vehicle laws, and handling other requests for police services. The Special Services Division is commanded by one Lieutenant who is responsible for four separate elements; the Detective Unit, the Special Operations Unit (accident investigations), the Community Policing Unit and the Parking Enforcement Office. Officers have the opportunity to be involved with several specialty assignments such as; Bicycle Patrol, Motorcycle Patrol, Special Response Team, Hostage Negotiations, Crime Prevention or School Resource Officer.
