  • Visiting Pittsburgh .... Help!

    Hey Brothers.

I am planning a short trip to Pittsburgh in a couple weeks, but have never been to your city and was looking for a bit of help with where to stay?

I will only be in town for 3 days/2 nights, but have no idea what area to book a hotel in? Meeting family, getting meals, coffee shops, bar at night.

Also, anything I need to put on the list of must do while visiting?

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Stay safe.

I stayed at this hotel in 2006 or so and enjoyed it:

    Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown
945 Penn Avenue · Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15222 USA

Its right downtown though, I was visiting for baseball games. Depends on if you want to be right in the city center.

The South Side has tons of bars and food places. You could always try Primanti bros for a sandwich but it's not on south side...sure you wouldn't have trouble getting directions to go there. Mount Washington provides a great overview of the City and you could snap some picks there. Of course you could always talk a walk past PNC park and Heinz field They are within walking distance from each other. Also many Universities in pittsburgh if you want to scout some tail. Carnegie Musieum. New Consol Energy Center. Not much to do but some stuff.

If I wanted to go somewhere in Pittsburgh that has everything you want I would hit Station Square. They have a hotel (might be a little pricey though), have a bunch of bars, a bunch of good restaurants and a coffee shop. Plus their are a few stores inside of the main building and few tours to take. And other than Mt. Washington, it gives you a nice view of the city from across the river. There are a couple of hotels on the north shore by the stadiums. The casino is also on the north shore. The south side is good for its bar scene, but the parking sucks and the drunk college kids suck. Here are some links to help you out:
        http://www.stationsquare.com/
http://theriverscasino.com/ (Andrews inside the casino is a fantastic restaurant)
http://www.waterfrontpgh.com/index.cfm (nice large shopping complex about 15-20mins east of the city). Although stay away from the neighborhood next to it, not a very nice place.
        Any questions PM me.
