  • City of Gresham

I just received an email for the City of Gresham. It stated that they have had 540 applicants for their latest wave of hiring and are having to schedule an additional day for written testing. If I received this email I most likely will get invited to the written test and a letter will be forthcoming. Good for me I think?

    WOW 540 applications.

Have any other folks out there applied to Gresham?

Hiring processes have been swamped in Oregon. We had a large group the last time we tested also.

One piece of FREE advise. If you have not taken a physical test yet- find out what it is and PRACTICE. I cannot believe how many people go to the physical test unprepared.

I applied to Gresham as well, received the same email about a week back. It's a very large number and few spots, sounds like what Portland is going through. Anyways good luck!

Interesting, I received a thanks but no thanks letter from Coos Bay a few days ago. Not sure why. Anyways good luck in your endeavors!

I hope the Gresham test doesn't conflict with the Coos Bay test. I really hate it when that happens, then I have to choose one.

I just got my letter from Gresham today for the Oct, 5. testing date. I believe Coos Bay written/orpat is on Oct, 15. So you should be clear.

I got my letter from Gresham this morning via email, yep Oct. 5th. I am in the last group being tested. You are correct about Coos Bay Oct. 15th for the orpat/written and hopefully interviewing on either the 16th or 17th. Do you have any ideas on where to stay that is cheap?

I too got the e-mail about the large amounts of applicants testing and how they'd have to do a second test. However, since I was coming from out-of-state, I scheduled my testing in advance. I was a little worried when I got that mass e-mail, since I already booked my travel plans.

From what I was told, Gresham does NOT have a physical fitness test. Am I wrong?

Good luck to all who are testing!

You are correct but you do have to pass the orpat at the academy.

I just did my test with Gresham. Had me to a scenerio with three different clips. Afterwards you get asked questions about what you saw, what happened, what would you do etc. My piece of advice on this is look at everything! Look at the weather, the time of day... EVERYTHING

If you pass that, you move on to the oral board and then fill out all the psych/background stuff.

Good luck to all! Six spots and 540 applicants....Wow!

So do you take the written test and then watch the video scenario?

I was from out-of-state, so yes, I did take all that. Started with the video test, then the oral board and then the written. I don't know how they'll do it for everyone else though that is testing in October.
