Anyone from Coos Bay Area?

I am applying to Coos Bay for the open position they have up, anyone from this area, or agency? Any advice or comments on this area and/or department are greatly appreciated.

I applied for Coos County once. They had their own PT course to test on at the fair grounds. It was quite the good ol' boys club. Sheriff Jackson came out to say hi to the applicants he knew. Even though I eventually made it to the oral board (in the basement of the jail no less) I was sure then I wasn't getting the position. Plus it didn't help that half the applicants were civilian jailers.

Small town area with lots of loggers. Meth is as much a problem there as in the East but it's easy to tell (usually) who they are. I've never lived there but have visited several times and spoken to sworn in the area.

Lots of fishing and some cargo. A bit of the tourist traffic but not as much as cities like Florence.

All the info I have. Oh yeah, it's cold and wet during the winter.

Sounds like it should be interesting. Oh well, I'll at least get some practice in with the ORPAT and written test, whether or not I get to the oral boards or further. I've been to Coos Bay quite a bit, but never more than to go riding at the dunes.

I've met the chief and one of their captains, both great guys and really nice, thats about all i know.
