  • Firearms Range Needed in OKC Area

The Vatterott College Criminal Justice Kappa Alpha Delta Chapter would like to host the Fall 2009 Region II and the Spring 2011 National American Criminal Justice Association Conventions in the OKC area. The conventions include a firearms competition in which we will need an agency or department support of a firearms range. Range requirements are identified at http://www.acjalae.org/firearms_policy.html.

Please contact me if your agency or department would be interested in hosting the firearms competition.

There is also a physical agility and crime scene competition - if an agency would like to sponsor an obstacle course and/or advanced crime scene tools.

Sir why don't you speak with Oklahoma County Sheriff Office their range is not that bad it is the range CLEET used for many years before building their own facility so there is a lot of room and plenty of parking unless your are talking hundreds of people.

I sent a letter to Sheriff Whetsel; however have not heard back from his office. Sheriff Whetsel is scheduled as a guest speaker on September 22nd. We plan to mention the request during his visit. <grin>

We project close to 400 law enforcement students and professionals for the regional conference and over 1,000 for the national conference; however only 25 - 50% participate in the firearms competition.

We usually only need a day or two for regional conferences; however the range is needed for the full week for the national conference which can be a challenge for some departments.

If you are interested in participating, you are more than welcome to join our chapter. Send me a private email if interested.

Try calling the training division @ 713-2033. I think that's a current number, if not call 713-1000 and then ask for the training division.

Thanks! I'll give them a call.

If you happen to know a Fire Fighter who is interested in teaching the fire extinguisher block of the CLEET Security Phase I/II course, send them my way.

You might check with the local fire departments I am sure there would be one there that would help you out.
