  • Ohio Motor Carrier Enforcement

Anyone ever apply for a position with the Motor Carrier Enforcement arm of the OSHP? Wanted to see if anyone has any firsthand knowledge of the hiring process (is it the typical LE hiring process-interview, BI, poly, physical, drug test; or a variation). I've noticed several positions open as of late, and it’s stirred my curiosity. I'm aware that it's an unarmed position which raises the danger level exponentially, and considered a civilian position within the patrol. From what I've seen however, it looks like most of their personnel stay on for a while, as positions don't come open frequently, so there must be a pretty significant amount of job satisfaction among their folks, or there's just not that many of them.

The job description stated that MCEI's patrol as well as conduct stationary work at the weigh stations as the primary duties. Anyone know how often, if ever, inspectors get to work the road? Looking at Ohio Dept. of Administrative Services job description, the MCEI supervisors do most of the road patrol. Any and all information is appreciated.

    Stay safe,
    RKC
