Hey Andrew, have you contacted anyone with the Buncombe Co. Sheriff's office? I'm with them as a non sworn reserve and its a great agency, they have been unbelievable to work for, top notch from the sheriff on down. If you want i'll talk to my Lt. and find out the person to contact and you can see what you have to do. If this doesn't work out I can give you a list of other PD's and counties close by you could apply with.

Asheville area out of state transfer
Brothers and sisters,
I am currently a Deputy Sheriff in Orange County Florida (where the mouse lives), and my wife and I are planning on relocating to the Asheville area in approximately one to two years, depending on the job market (she is a Physicians Assistant). I have six years sworn, my A.S degree with honors, two years dispatch, and approximately one year of Property Crime Detective work within the agency.
I have read the NC board requirements for out of state officers, and am more than willing to complete whatever I must in order to call the Asheville area home. However, it is my understanding I will need an agency to hire me first in order to get the ball rolling on the 98 hours required by the state. The question is, do any of you fine ladies or gentleman know of any agency in Western NC that would be willing to support a fine canidate such as myself? Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
As always, stay safe out there.
Regards,
Andrew Luna
(PS I have spoken with Lt. Yelton with Asheville PD, who advised all new hires are required to attend their full academy, which I will do if I must)Tags: None
