  • NY State Trooper electrocution death

OGDENSBURG, N.Y. — New York State Police say a trooper and another man were electrocuted when a ladder touched a high-voltage power line as they tried to fix a flat tire on an antique fire truck.

Investigators say Trooper Shawn Snow and a Canadian man raised the extension ladder to redistribute the weight from the truck's right rear tire while changing the flat Sunday afternoon. The ladder touched the power line and both men were killed instantly.

Ogdensburg police say the truck was nearing the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge at the Canadian border when it got a flat tire. Snow had stopped to assist the unidentified man.

RIP brother. Everyone, be careful out there.

I just read the File 25 at briefing with no details ... that is awful. My thoughts and prayers to family, friends and the SP.

      Rest in peace brother.

How does the ladder touching a power line kill BOTH men? Were they holding on to the ladder or something?

I'm scared to go anywhere near powerlines now.

RIP BTW. People hate police, but police always die trying to help the very people that hate them. Police are truely selfless and kind.
