You Should still apply, our state Police uses a similar chart which according to their chart I'm overweight, but I spoke to a recruiter and some people from this website and they said as long as you can pass the PAT and have no serious health problems you'll make it because they know you'll lose the weight while in the academy.

In the military if you don't make weight they do a body fat test I think. Perhaps the PD does the same.

If you go through the process, you would have been seen by a Sgt. who would tell you that you will have to provide documentation showing your body mass index (BMI) below 19% for males and 21% for females.

I know that San Francisco State (physiology dept.) will test you for $50 to $60

Cost of living is astronomical there, from what I understand.

The cost of living is only a 3% difference between SF and NY.

All the crime stats are on the website for you to compare to whatever your location is.

If they give the test in NY I'd hop on it. Seems like a good place to come if your seriously recruiting since our options are way too competitive county jobs and way under paid city jobs.

The 30,000 people who paid $100 to take the suffolk test should be able to offset the cost of sending a test out here.
