      Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer to this question. Does the age of 35 cut off to enter the academy apply to Lateral transfers? In other words as a LEO above the age of 35,would it be possible to lateral over to this department?

        There’s no laterals, anyone and everyone no matter your background has to attend and complete the 6 month academy.

      Anyone have an idea of what the first year salary is? I know the base salary according to the website is $44k and then it varies depending on OT or the shifts you work, but is it possible to reach ~ 65k in the first year?

        If you work afternoons or midnights and grind OT. That should be obtainable first year. You’re rookie year you will be getting forced a lot so you don’t have to worry about that. Also gotta work on filling your Comp bank up

      Since we are so deficient and work 16-20 hours everyday I heard port is putting in 3 classes after the 120 graduates back to back. We knew there was a 121 and 122 but they are working on a 123 now 150 a class

        It’s gonna be bad until the 121 comes out the end of next summer. 16s most days. They waited too long to put the 120 in

        Will they push through the 121 and 122 class? My son is on the 122 does he have a good shot of being hired? January he start the back ground check and submits his paper work.. thanks!!!

      My son is on the list for 122 he has to submit his paper work in january 2023 i hope it works out for him!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to papo officer anthony varvaro family!!! What a shame!! My heart breaks for this young man and his family!!! God bless them... End of shift

        I know it's a long way out and good luck to all with the process but I'm currently a recruit and bought an extra pair of BDUs for the academy. Completely brand new and unopened. If anyone would like to buy them off me for a discount, I'm in the city.

          January 28th is tentative graduation date and it sounds like the majority will be sent to JFK.

        Question for those are on the job currently. What’s the policy on military leave? Does PAPD provide paid leave for military? My current agency I work for the city of New York and and give me 30 days pay every year for military leave. TIA

                Believe they did start. I heard 170 recruits and after the first week they’re doing 12 hour tours , 16 hours on saturdays to graduate in 5 months instead of 6

                  You betcha. A lot of forced OT. They usually don’t touch your RDOS though
