If possible, due to my own curiosity and future planning, does anyone have good insight on where a new recruit will most likely be sent to prison wise? I know mostly eastern NY but which facility is most likely?

Anywhere west of Auburn NY will be a very long wait. (YEARS) I’m not sure wait times for other areas..
It changes, but if I were to bet I’d bet more than likely new recruits will primarily get sent to Great Meadow/Washington/Greene .. as no one really ever transfers to these prisons.Last edited by Ohkeo; 03-06-2023, 06:49 PM.

How are Nysdoccs benefits? Is it like NYC corrections? Do we get Uniform pay and longevity pay?

I have 5 years in and make about $74,000 a year without working much overtime. That's after all the soft money. Healthcare is pretty good but gets costly for the family plan. I have the single plan. My take home is about 1,850 every other week vs a gross of about 2800. They deduct alot from your pay, besides taxes you have union dues, healthcare, defered comp, retirement, optional aflac insurance and optional cpof. There's no uniform pay. They used to give it I guess, but it just got worked into your base pay. In addition to your base pay, you get hazadous duty, pre shift briefing pay(that they take back when you call in sick, take vacation, or swap) expanded duty pay, and inconvenience pay if you work afternoons or overnights. Depending on your facility, you can make tons of money in overtime. I've seen co's make over 200k a year. My facility doesn't have too much overtime, but co's with my time can still make over 100k with overtime.Last edited by hopeful315; 03-15-2023, 09:09 PM.

I emailed my investigator to check on the status of my case and all she could tell me was there's no outstanding documents that's needed for her and I could reach out to the psych Department to see if there's any outstanding documents with them is that a good sign or is that whatever
