Pre covid they used to run 3 academy classes at the same time , It seems like they’re only running 1 class at a time now .

yeah because the last one started about 6 weeks or so ago and by the time this next one comes up it'll be at the 8 week mark. maybe they're just trying to get a few classes in until they officially close the next round of prisons and see what type of personnel they actually need.

Hey everyone. I took Exam 28423 - Correction Officer Trainee July 2020. I haven't heard from them. Score was 90 rank 930. Can some tell me what is the process?

its gonna be a long wait brother. they're just now getting to the prior exam to the one you did. I completed everything Jan. 2020 and got a 105 on that exam. But you'll eventually get a packet for your background and you'll have to make a few trips to Albany for the med/psych.

Hello everybody my boy who is a current CO told they got approved for 18 straight academy’s for 2021

Very long,,,,I arrived at 830am and was out of there at 3pm

# 28-416 score only 75

MED/PHYSICAL and met with my background investigator : 05/2021 Med/Physical took less than 2 hours ,and about 30mins with my background investigator, and about a month later got a letter saying i passed the med/physical
Written Phychological: 05/2021 took about 3 hours
Psych: 06/2021 u can do zoom meeting or meet them in Albany but i picked face to face meeting in Albany and it took only 5mins to finish and he told me i passed right on the spot without me even ask.


my background investigator told me it will take at least 6 months to finish my background check. and she said no news is good news

I heard that when you are in the academy they give you a lottery sheet with 3 prisons you would like to work at and they decide where you go from there

It varies some officers will find out the day of graduation while others may find out a week before graduation . It is a wish list but that’s all it is. It will play no role on where you may end up

I just got called yesterday but I missed it. So I emailed them. I have to schedule and appointment for the psych. What does the physical consists of?

You have to do a step test stepping onto & off a platform for 3 minutes straight at the pace of a ticker after you do a ladder climb jump a hurdle drag a dummy around the room & show you can close a cell door & lock it without slamming it .. I believe thats all its fairly easy but don’t underestimate the step test, Good luck
