  • PAPD Officer Exam 2020 (March 16 - April 5th 2020)

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has embarked on a new journey of growth. We are building – in some cases – rebuilding – some of our most critical transportation assets. To meet this growth, we are recruiting new, highly motivated and diverse talent. Now is the time to join the Port Authority Police Department!

We are a premier law enforcement agency that is serious about security. Our job is to protect and secure the most critical transportation facilities in the world. These assets include the world’s largest airport system, the East Coast’s biggest seaport, the region’s most active tunnels, bridges, and bus terminal, the World Trade Center complex, and the Port Authority Trans-Hudson rail transit system (PATH). Millions of customers use our facilities each year so protecting and securing them is paramount. This job isn’t for everyone, but it might be the right job for you.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey will be accepting applications to be randomly selected to take the written test during our open application period from March 16 - April 5th 2020.

PS: all of the info is on the site - salary , benefits....

Looks like now they have multiple fees along the way. Not a lot of money and at least each fee only gets collected when you reach that step of the process.

Does your nypd time go with you to port authority on the back like it would with ny state and county jobs ? Or since it is it’s own entity do you start fresh and do 20?

      They swapped the fees.
In 2017 it was to apply to take the exam you pay 20$.
Then if you lucky and get selected for exam you pay another 20$.
Now i guess you just apply to take the written exam and if you selected you pay 20$ and for a physical fitness you pay 20$.
Seems to me they made it better - no need to pay unless you are selected to take the exam.

correction : it’s also 20 to just apply

No. You will have to do the whole 6 month academy. Good luck.

How long does the process take because the announcement states you have no more than 35 at the time of appointment. I’ll be 35 in October of this year.

Edit : 35 is the cut off
Estimate - you better off checking out 2017 thread and approximating.

35 is the cutoff, not 36.

Unlike most jobs the age limit applies to the time of appointment and not the test date.

I don't think there is any way you'd get hired by October but it's probably worth 20 bucks to try.

            Yep you are correct
“ 21 years of age and have not yet reached their 35th birthday at time of appointment to the Police Academy”

So never mind chances are slim- you have to be very lucky. Unless you got some military background you can shave up to 6 years

4 on 2 off. Rotating days off. For Ex. If you’re off Sat Sun, you’re next days off are Fri Sat etc.

I failed the psych a few years ago...is it a black mark on my record? Can I reapply? Not sure if it's worth it to go thru this headache again. Clean record and got screwed.

Is it still hard for NYPD officers to get hired by the PAPD?

Nypd Officers get hire now if you get selected for the process is a lottery. I know someone in the current academy that was an Nypd cop last year. Good Luck

For some odd reason I don't see an option for applying when I log in, I only see my previous application details upon login.
