I heard that the MTA police use to call candidates back to redo the PFT of they failed at first is this true ? Is it a possibility that they’ll do it again this year ?

Anybody know how promotions work within MTAPD? Is it a test? discretionary?

It depends on promotion to what.

Sergeant and Lieutenant is an exam, For Lieutenant there is also an oral interview. Detective and Captain and above is discretionary.

HighwayBob i should have been more specific. I was in fact referencing sergeant lieutenant. Would you by any chance know how often their administered how does it compare to the NYPD promotional process?

Compared to NYPD? I just told you how it works. Sergeant and Lieutenant is a written exam. Lieutenant includes an oral and I forget the percentage it counts towards your final score - I think it's something like 70% for the written and 30% for the oral.

They have them whenever they need to but not less than every three years I'd say. Not Civil Service but it is pretty much the same. There is no fixed time when they stop using the list and give another test. They usually get down into the 70's close to the passing mark before they give up and give a new test.
