2019 MTAPD Exam Announcement

For anyone following, the MTA is set to approve its budget on Wednesday the 16th, which assumes Sen. Schumer can deliver on the federal bailout by the end of January. This budget will allegedly avoid most layoffs and service cuts. I am just taking a guess here, but this sounds like good news for anyone who is hopeful to join their police dept.

As I said much earlier, the PD will not be affected by cuts as far as anyone now knows. We are shorthanded and getting more shorthanded by the day. We are dealing with the overnight subway shutdowns and will have to also deal with Eastside Access which will be opening "soon". As far as I know it will have a staffing of approximately 100 uniforms. That's in addition to our normal responsibilities of the LIRR, MNRR and SIRT.

If this budget gets passed in a positive way will there be more tests? I haven’t been chosen to take an exam yet. Hoping for the best, current NYPD.

Won't be a test for about another two years unless they decide to break the pattern

That sounds good. I did not passed the 2019 test and I’m pretty sure it was because of the personality questions at the end, hoping for the best and we get a new test in 2022.

Question; I’m a current MOS but I was a civilian at the time when I had applied for the MTA exam. Would I be able to change my status to a MOS, or do I have to be processed as a civilian IF they were to ever reach out to civilians? Also noting that I did receive the passing email.

Mta started giving out offers of employment

When are they sending out the second round to do the polygraph and medical since they sent employment offers on the 16th to the first round that got the conditional offer

Bob has said earlier; possibly July a class will go in. Obviously if you’re not processed that will be before the class goes in

Kid I work with. Accepted and got hired. Still waiting on a COE. Still not sure how many actually got processed. There were 200 or so that passed the physical back in July. Not sure how many went in this round.

Not everyone that passed the physical recieved a call back.I heard only 50 officers are getting hired in January. There are 2 dates of hire in January, the 6th and the 20th.

Don't have to do the academy again, but a few weeks of training.

Any NYPD MOS already resign for the upcoming class? If you did not when were you told to resign?

The idea is to used all up all your vacation time and chart time to resign the day before you start since all your time counts after you work 15 years for MTA or resign a few days prior if you want to avoid getting into anything if your not allowed to use up your time.

What exactly is the issue that you guys are concerned about?

The question is: is it okay to have a “gap in service”, so to say, if you resign on the 1st from the city and be hired on the 6th by the MTA, is that an issue? I have heard from other folks going to other agencies that a gap in service will present problems for departments taking you as a rollover.

That is absolutely not an issue.

I'll grant that it's unusual for someone to resign from the City and then come over weeks later (due to health insurance coverage and MONEY) but plenty of rollovers had small gaps in service.

No one is going to make an issue out of you resigning from the City on a Wednesday and starting with us on the following Monday.
