The hiring spree, which was pushed through by the governor in December over fierce objections from advocates and some MTA board members, is expected to cost $249 million over four years.Last edited by Mike0117; 04-18-2020, 10:28 AM.

Any word if they’re going to have another exam this year? Myself and a few buddies of mine on Nypd are looking to leave and applied for the test and have heard nothing about one being scheduled.

HighwayBob i heard that mtpd trying to get a academy near upstate . Is that true and that they plan on hiring a lot because their in need of more officers because the class of 99 is set to retire .

Class of '99 can go anytime since July of last year. We lost a few more today.
The hiring will be a total of 500 minimum. 160 already got hired in January/February. You do the math.
No word on the academy. We can't just throw an academy together in a few months so we will see what happens. Don't know what you mean by "upstate".
If it happens, rumor is that it would be either Randall's Island or on the property of our K9 training center in Dutchess County. Personally, I doubt it will happen. We will probably end up using the Nassau County Academy, but that's all a big question mark right now.

No one will be hired in July. How can that possibly be if the first PFT won't be until mid-July?
-
HighwayBob I’m just going off of what was posted on this thread a month ago. According to what was posted 150 people are being hired in July.
-
A newspaper article is hardly a source of reliable information about these types of things.

I don't know what a "panel candidate" is.
There are numerous dates scheduled for the PFT in July and August - I think it's six. There will be a reduced number of candidates tested on each date so they have added additional dates to the schedule.
I don't know if anyone has been notified about any date other than the first one.

HighwayBob , thank you. Do you know approximately how many people will be invited to the PFT? I never interviewed as of yet.
-
I have no idea how many will be tested each date. There were very few interviews done. IT DOES NOT MATTER. Processing steps do not have to go in order.

I’m a current MOS, but at the time that I signed up for the MTA exam I was a civilian. I received the passing email a few months back. Would I be able to change my status to a MOS, or would I just have to wait until I begin the process (if ever) to notify them of the change of status?
