    • So is this test is being used strictly to staff the subways or can we apply to metro north, lirr, or any other post?

I say it's majority subways, and maybe like 10% is for retires

I don't think the majority will be in the subways, not even close. But we will see.

When you get hired and finish everything including field training you can, contractually, be assigned anywhere for the remainder of that year. However, come October there is a job bid, where everyone picks their job for the following year. That's based upon seniority.

A list of jobs is published along with several seniority lists. You call in order on your assigned day and time and you get to pick from whatever is left. Obviously, if you're brand new there will not be much to choose from, which makes it easier, lol.

      • Heard Rumors that anyone OTJ that took the December or November test could possibly be hired sometime in March? Anyone hear the same? Seems alittle unrealistic but idk really seems like there rushing things.

When you typed that did it cross your mind how ridiculously impossible that sounds? People who took the 2019 test are just starting their interviews. They still have the physical, background investigation, poly, written psych and psych interview. From the time I took the panel to signing the job offer was 4 months.. you really think you guys can do it in 2?

The first of the PFTs won't be held until the end of March, so no way that's possible.

      • Hi everyone,

I applied back when announcement came out and only received email stating application was received. Any hope they are still calling people.

PS. I am a current officer with NYPD

          • Thank you for the responses! How long does the hiring process usually take from panel to hire? I know nassau and suffolk are notoriously slow with their applicant processing. Is this anything like that?

There is no "usually". There's no set timeframe. These days it would probably be within 6 months or so but that's a guess.

I'm guessing that it will be less than that.

          • I have my panel interview the 31st. Any tips or words of wisdom?

                No they don't respond.

            • Does anyone know the mta pd’s grooming policy for men? Are guys allowed to have facial hair (short stubble/beard)?

              Comment

              • Just like NYPD no designer beards or goatee. You can get a shaving note for medical reasons but your beard has to grow naturally for NYPD 0.5 Inch is the Max and for religious reasons you can also get a shaving note
