Any one of you guys got the intel if the commissioner’s son getting hired with this class? I’m guessing the list is set to expire when he gets hired

I think his son got an 82? Could be wrong, he's stuck waiting in line with us. He probably won't see the academy until spring 24....around the time the next test probably will be lol

This list cannot expire until there is a new list from a new exam. There must always be an active list for the county to hire off of as per civil service law.

    • For those who didn't see, Nassau county legislature voted unanimously for the new Police contract that a majority of PBA members approved of. Give backs are 2 less sick days, 4 more appearances, 2.5% into healthcare. Cops get increased raise by 15% and a roughly $6K stipend after 6 years service. I'm sure there's things not mentioned, I'm just going off the Newsday article. With the contract officially overwith maybe we can see some more movement going forward.

Starting pay is $37k and top pay is $141k after the completion of 11 years of service.

          • I know the list is set to expire 6/23 and saw stuff about them extending it due to no new list being established but does anyone know approximately how many classes would be left?

            • Unsure when it’s going to expire but it won’t be until a new test is made, given, and established. Last I heard a test hasn’t started to be written

As mentioned in prior posts I have made, as per civil service law, there must always be a current police list for the county to hire off of. Hence, until a new exam is given and a list is established from such exam, the 2018 list will stay valid and hiring can still be done off of it. Prior lists, such as the 2012 exam’s list, were extended past their initial expiration date. The 2012 list was established in 2013 and did not expire until June of 2019. Current word from within the department is that a new exam has not been written, nor have tentative testing dates currently been outlined.

No, I took mine in November '21 and still nothing pretty sure people months before me still haven't either. If you signed up for MTA's test for this month then you'll likely be processed and hired by them before even getting emailed for the next step with Nassau.

                • They are actively processing. COE’s went out to a small group to sign in March and today a group met for fingerprint/drug testing.
