As a former city cop/current MTAPD he is pretty much spot on. I am list number 33XX and will no longer be making the move to Nassau. For me the ship has sailed. A year since the physical and still no word for anyone wondering. For anyone looking to get onto any of “THE” jobs Nassau Suffolk MTA etc…these next few years are key because a lot of the old timers are retiring. Once they do the hiring it will be back to small classes here and there for all these agencies mentioned.

I feel you, bro. If you’re in the city and can jump ship to Nassau or Suffolk before you hit top pay, then do it. It only gets harder the longer you stay in the city.

I’m about to hit 9 years in the NYPD. Since the last Nassau test came out I bought a house and had a child. There’s no way I can support my family on a measly $35K, the same amount my taxes come out to, and then have to wait almost a decade to see a decent salary.

I was a POS standing on foot at the corner of Foch and Brewer thinking I could just “take the next test and see what happens”. Well, I saw what happened and this is precisely what happened: the ship sailed. S.S. Sayonara full speed ahead. And even if I do leave in the future, by the time I see Nassau big bucks I would be close to retiring from the city and sailing off into the sunset. Once I retire, I’m treating this job like it was a bad dream and gonna forget this **** ever happened.

Anyone know if there's been any list movement whatsoever lately? I know a few people got investigators about a month or so ago but haven't heard of them doing anything more than just that nor have I heard of anyone below them getting prints/drug testing. Is this just a post holiday/ waiting on contract stuff lull or something?

When you’re assigned an investigator they set up a date to meet. After you meet with them you then wait for “phase 2” which is about 2 months out from academy date. That’s when you’ll sign your COE, psych, oral psych, ekg, uniform fitting, and poly. Nick_C

I was never contacted for fingerprints. Fitness test summer of 21 and received nothing until today.

Nassau’s “Background Investigation” email is really just the email to do your drug test and fingerprints. I’m list number 24xx and I got that email October 2021. Still waiting to be scheduled an actual investigator.

That’s odd I never got an email but I heard from my references and my neighbors that they got calls/ paperwork about me yet I’m list #24xx

"Background Investigation Scheduling" is the e-mail title of Phase I and not the background investigator (Phase II).

No need to go up in arms, they're still going down the list as per Civil Service Law.

Hey Guys. I took the physical in March and passed. I still haven’t heard anything and starting to lose hope. Should I consider the fact that I haven’t been called yet, that I will never get this job?

Don’t lose hope but I remember your post another guy and myself both responded you’re going to have to wait a awhile it’s a big waiting game and people have took the physical in June of 21 are still waiting on other steps. It’s all about patience
