Got the email January 31. I had applied the first day it opened

Lucky u. I have tons of LE experience, military and didn't get selected.

They usually send the assessment to everyone. This is like my 8th time applying. Usually they take internal candidate from what I was told

Nah. Some postings gave me a thanks for applying email. Others never messaged anything back

Not too many internal candidates apply, but they do get preference. There is also a very strong preference for having an LE background.

I was with another agency for less than a yr though , before I left them, first time applying hopefully process moves quickly since I’m 32 , anyone who has gone through care to share what it was like , hoping to get on in nyc area

I have been processing for the NYC position from last posting in 2017. Started the process 2/17, and I have been at the final step since 10/17. Amtrak has a temporary hiring freeze due to budgetary reasons. Just to give you a point of reference.

I'm already a police officer and have military background. I applied too for the Amtrak police last month. I already did all the online stuff they sent me. Waiting for a call or something..lateral transfer

Got the invite to take the written test next weekend. I asked if there was another upcoming test in the near future because I had plans. They told me there were no additional tests scheduled for the year as of now. Based on what KRC187 said, it sounds like this is going to be a long process.

Hopefully but highly unlikely - they probably picked their crop .
Last application - the process ended at that first job fit determination exam ( the assessment everyone took)
- nothing was received afterwords.

boconnor Yes the invite was via email and I had to call or email back to confirm. The subject line of the email was "Phase 1 Testing Invitation". Business attire for the test.
