  • NYPD exam 5300-5329

I haven't seen a condensed thread for those who have taken/will take exams 5300(7/1/14) to 5329(6/31/15).

This way when new hopefuls have taken the exam they can post their experiences and thoughts about the process.

Final Update: At this point you should've been called and on the job. If not, I hope you the best and hope to see you in blue one day! Stay safe everyone.

At this point it doesn't seem we will get into the academy until at least July 2017 (According to many of the posters).

UPDATE: 43xx to 5310 are in consideration for the April 2017 class. 5310-5329 are in consideration for the July 2017 class. 43xx to 5325 are in consideration for October 2017.

    5326/5329: Don't expect anything until January 2018.

    Class of 2018 WhatsApp Chat

I ust took the test, now what?

Since you're probably 53xx, you're already in the process! After you took the test you should have been e-mailed your APD-5. If you haven't, it was probably in your spam folder. If you did receive it and completed the APD-5 the next step is medical/pre-screening/social media check, then you will scheduled for your JST and Written Psych. Next you will meet with your Background investigator, do a mini-medical and then the Oral Psych. After that if everything goes well you will receive a consideration e-mail.

Stay patient, I took my exam July 2013 and list numbers were not established until May 2014. Best of luck.

Waiting for the APD-5, it's the background questionnaire you recieve via mail. That's the next step after your list numbers. You will recieve that about July 2016. Mine will be here this July. Im exactly a year before you on exam 4300.

That is the plan. I am lucky to have a stable job so it's no rush for me - I'll just let the ball roll...

I was suggested the same - definitely recommended to join the cadets - you get first pick.

            Good luck.

5317 here! I concur. If I'm not mistaken the pace is based upon how many new officers they are hiring which is based on the budget so it fluctuates regardless. But we can all hope

5317 here as well. All we can do is keep hoping time will go as quick as we want it to, get in the best shape possible and stay out of trouble. Good luck to us all.

Just a tip: You can start with cardio and walk to and from where you need to go as much as you can. And sqeeze in push-ups before bed and the like. That's what I do although I should do more strength exercise.

                          Haha, that's what I'm doing. I've started the 100 pushups program: http://hundredpushups.com/index.html
Right now, my job forces me to stand/walk everywhere so I don't need that much cardio.

Ah I got you lol. A couple years ago I started with walking about 30-45 minutes a day and I progressed in speed and time. Now running is a piece of cake and I love it. If losing weight and looking good can be a motivation for you - I tell you cardio slims you down nicely.

I have a desk job so I don't have that luxury. That looks very interesting, thank you for sharing. I've been using the app JEFIT at times to add other strength exercises into my routine.
