  • Tax Compliance Agent position

This position and its trainee position just opened up:

    http://www.cs.ny.gov/examannouncemen.../oc/25-916.cfm

It sounds like they are basically tax collectors who work in the field after the normal tax collections have failed. Are these the peace officer positions referred to in the CPL for tax and finance? or do they promote to peace officer positions?

Tax and Finance have criminal investigators with the civil service title Revenue Crimes Specialist. They are both peace and police officers per the CPL. They attend NYS Park Police Academy up in Rensselaer.

just to confirm, Revenue Crimes Specialist would be considered peace/police officers per the cpl and Tax Compliance Agent are not?

            If it's the same title...

They took their take home cars and other perks away. Not too many happy campers left in the agency.

Great group of guys and girls. Had a couple warrants with them.

They have a bifold wallet that specifies their powers of peace and police officers. Kinda weird reading it.

Shields look like a Lt shield and although they don't need permits, the agency makes them get it for unknown reasons.

Yup same guys. My buddy has worked there for a while. He's never actually done work for Tax and Finance though. He's been assigned to federal task forces his entire time there.

My buddy made mid 80s last year and gets a car since he's on a federal task force. He's been with them around 5 years.

They have offices all over the state. My buddy is assigned to NYC.

El Dorado is probably the best task force out there.

If you read the CPL, anyone appointed after a certain date are required to get permits
