Largest among the nation's bridge and tunnel toll authorities in terms of traffic volume, MTA Bridges and Tunnels serves more than a million people daily in the New York metropolitan area. As a constituent agency of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), its dual role is to operate seven bridges and two tunnels and to provide surplus toll revenues to help support public transit.
        Responsibilities

While one of the primary duties of a TBTO is to collect tolls at any one of our nine facilities, they also interact with customers and provide assistance, such as giving travel directions, traffic information and complete forms and reports. As this is a 24/7 operation TBTOs are required to work schedules that include various shifts which include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays AND mandatory overtime. TBTOs are a vital part of an 1800 member organization where customer service and safety for our employees and the general public are of great importance.
        Qualifications
TBTOs are required to work in all weather and climate conditions and must be able to lift and carry items of varying weight and size safely through toll facilities including lanes with active vehicular traffic. To ensure that candidates can perform the essential functions of the position of TBTO and to ensure the safety of the individual employee, other MTA Bridges and Tunnels employees, and the riding public, MTA Bridges and Tunnels has established certain medical, physical and psychological qualification standards for TBTOs, including, but not limited to:

        Vision standards
        Depth perception
        Hearing and speech standards
        Cardiovascular standards

Temps get paid less and strictly collect tolls. That's it. No Enforcement duties, nada.

                    • Court Officers, with limited exceptions for bosses, do not get parking placards.

                      • I believe TBTA officer get a place to park their vehicle at work, therefore they don't really need a parking permit.

beside those parking plague are kinda overrated and being overly use on non official business.. just park legally or pay the meter.. lol.. too easy

                          • I've seen TEA giving parking tickets to cops and fire fighters with their parking plague displayed, so even if you get a parking plague from tbta there is still a chance of you getting nailed with a parking ticket.

                            • I understand you have to give your social media information like facebook, instagram or twitter name when called for tbta. Would you have to give your user name on here as well?

                              • Yes tbta officers have a place to park their vehicle at work . I was wondering if they received a Parking placade to park outside Of the bridge and tunnel facilities. I have never heard Of traffic agente giving tickets to placaded vehicles thats an insult if they do That , especially if the officer is on official business .
